Back in 1837, Kenosha was known as Southport — because the area was the southern most port in the Wisconsin territory on Lake Michigan. In that year, 61 steamboats and 80 schooners called on the village. A lighthouse was needed in order for these ships to find the village at night. PhotographyEASY Access - You can pull your car up to the parking lot and walk a few yards to view the lighthouse.
Time of day - This location is best for sunrise, but could also be especially nice for sunset if you have a drone looking back at the lighthouse from the water. A little longer lens would be helpful to reach the lighthouse from the beach. 100mm to 300mm lens would be best. |
